Kids do say the funniest things

by la_spice @ 2008-07-04 - 19:51:12

Last week the burning question from my Grandchildren was "how do babies get out of mummies tummies"? 8| Fortunately I was driving the car at the time so my daughter explained the intricacies (which she did extremely well I must add!) Phew - well it wasn't my job! And no Louis babies are not pooed out!!!

On Wednesday we were crossing a large car park when, out of the blue, my Grandson (pictured below) said "Grandma you need a boyfriend". Taking it in my stride I asked him why he thought I needed a boyfriend. He replied "So you can have lots of children".88| I explained to him that I'd already had two children - his Mummy and his Auntie and that I didn't want any more.

He thought for a nanosecond and said "but you still need a boyfriend so you can get lots of loving like Mummy and Daddy". Well I couldn't argue with that now could I?

Now then - where can I find me some loving? :-/

White Horses

by la_spice @ 2008-07-02 - 07:49:44

In 1968 a programme for children started on BBC 1 called 'The White Horses'. It was made in Yugoslavia and was dubbed into English. It told the story of Julia (Julka), a girl who went to stay with her uncle Dimitri at his stables where he trains Lipizzaner horses which are the famous white horses used for dressage.

This obviously isn't a Lipizzaner horse but I think she has a certain star quality about her. My daughter didn't believe this horse was wearing ribbons and accused me of 'doctoring' this photo but it is exactly as it was taken. Later this morning I shall be taking her a little walk down the road to prove it!

white horse

For those of you who remember the programme here are the words to the theme music:

White Horses

On white horses let me ride away
To my world of dreams so far away
Let me run
To the sun
To a world my heart can understand
It's a gentle, warm and wonder land
Far away
Stars away
Where the clouds are made of candyfloss
As the day's born
When the stars are gone
We'll race to meet the dawn
So when I can only see the grey
Of a sad and very lonely day
That's when I
Softly sigh
On white horses
Snowy white horses
Let me ride away

And here's a u-tube version of the song and opening sequence:

I'm not promising to answer but .......

by la_spice @ 2008-07-01 - 12:25:55

.......go on then.

You might never get another chance so ask me three questions and I'll seriously think about answering them sometime this evening.

I may have to claim diplomatic immunity though .... and I did once sign the "Official Secrets Act" or something like that!

Meanwhile I'm going back to the sunshine :)

Have a lovely afternoon

Automaton - "I am a dalek"

by la_spice @ 2008-06-30 - 16:24:27

Last week Tom (aka SeasideMan) blogged a piece of automatic writing on the creative writers blog. Click here to see the results.

I've never tried this before but just had to have a go. The only editing I did was to capitalise the letter "i" and put a section back into lower case where I'd left "caps lock" on. Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Anyway here's the result.

Where shall I go as I let my fingers loose over the black black keys that have become some much a part of my life? Monochrome is all I can see which is a very sad. I want rainbows, prisms, colour, laughter and joy I don’t want dark and drab and dust and crumbs of hastily eaten toast; I should be outside I shouldn’t be chained to this oppressive machine let me go let me fly let me sing and dance.

I think my subconscious is telling me to leave my computer alone!

Obviously after cleaning the keyboard!

An Amazing Band

by la_spice @ 2008-06-30 - 11:07:13

You'd be wrong in thinking I was talking about Glastonbury. That said, when I telephoned my Mum last night she said:

"Songs of Praise was lovely and we're now watching Glastonbury"
The fact that she's in her mid-eighties and lives alone was a dead giveaway that my daughter was paying her a visit!

So we've established that it wasn't a Glastonbury band. Nor am I talking about Fern Britton and her gastric band. Mind you I did feel that she let me down on that one. I kept waiting to find a copy of her 'amazingly easy diet' somewhere! I guess it was asking too much.

So back to 'my band' - well having shared my bed for the last three nights and me not getting very much sleep either ;) - I can proudly reveal my band. Ta da ... voila ... clickety-click!

As I said what an amazing band and great in bed.

Let's hope I get a better night's sleep tonight!

Hot in Bed.

by la_spice @ 2008-06-28 - 07:30:00

I didn't get much sleep last night  I spent a lot of time thrashing about due to the humid weather  What else did you think I meant?

Well as I was lying there I began to think about different positions (as you do!) *steady - your minds are in the gutter again*>:-[

When I'm sleeping on my own I generally adopt the foetal position but can't think of anything nicer than spooning with a loved one. :**:

The last couple of nights I've been sleeping in the spare room which is cooler than my bedroom so I wondered whether this factor had disrupted my sleep. In my own bed I sleep East to West but in the spare room West to East - there I go thinking about positions again.

Then I remembered that I'd read somewhere that people used to sleep with their feet facing the door so that should they die in the night it would be easier for their bodies to be removed 88| nice thought!

Well the sun is already shining so it looks like I'll be taking up my favourite position on the sunlounger so may just catch up on a few of these :zz: :zz: :zz:

Have a lovely weekend everyone
