No pressure then!

by Arnica @ 2007-12-22 - 22:26:06

I wasn't planning writing anything on my "other blog" over the Christmas period but I've just received this message from one of my brothers:

Thanks, hope you have a good Christmas. Guess what? I am working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you are up to the challenge perhaps a poem on your blog to all those working at Christmas!!!!!!!

Thanks bro!

In case I don't manage to rise to the occasion, we should all spare a thought for Carers, Doctors, Nurses, Policemen, Ambulancemen, Firemen, Servicemen and so many other professionals who are working hard to provide a better, safer place for us all to live in.

A special mention for dairy farmers like our very own James of Lindow who milks at 5am every single day of the year.

Personally, I'll spare a thought for farmers. Especially those milking three sixty five. At 5 a.m. I might add. :) James.

I used to love working these days, and get the extra pay, and then take the days in lieu. Holidays are much cheaper, resorts are emptier. I used to think it was a good deal.

Only I can’t do it with my current job 

I hate bank holidays - they should be phased out and employees should have the equivalent number of days added to their leave entitlement.

Christmas and Easter are slightly different.

Here in France life returns to 'normal' on Boxing Day.

Having spent many Christmas and New year days in France, i can truthfully say that they celebrate it in a much better way... All the hype and pressure is missing and it has a special meaning... Shame i couldn't be there this year... Next year maybe... and yes my thoughts and good wishes go to all those working to make our lives safer over the xmas period.. Merry Christmas x

One of the only good things about a Summer Christmas -you don't have to feed out hay and silage on Christmas day. I'll set the alarm for 5 just to feel James' pain. Maybe he should consider farming Dexters after all - no milking!!! :DD
I agree, big thanks to all those working at Crimble-time, wherever in the world they may be xxx

5am was late on Christmas day morning when my kids were young.

Happy Christmas.

First Christmas memory.. Aged 3, up at 2:30 am, standing on our back garden blowing the heck out of a plastic trumpet I got as a present trying to wake everyone up to let them know Santa had been.

Could never have stayed in bed until 5am. lol

But yes, Always think of those still working during the holiddays, who can't just take a day or two off.

Merry Christmas to them all. *raises glass*, cheers everyone :)

To all those women who cook and care 365 days in the year and to all who add colour to our lives especially poets and artists I pay tribute and a big big thankyou David.
