It's only a number!

by la_spice @ 2008-04-03 - 15:55:19

My granddaughter simply loves writing both numbers and letters. Yesterday she was talking about age and said "I'm number six and Louis is number four, what number are you?"

I quickly remembered that as a child I never knew how old my mum was and wouldn't have dreamt of asking - you just didn't!

So I thought, "honesty is the best policy" and said "I'm five and nine, fifty-nine". I nearly added I'm nearly ten times as old as you but that made me feel old - anyway she's only just started learning multiplication! On top of which I've only just turned 59!

A little later she said "so Grandma you're nine and five"

Now I know they're only numbers but I had to put her straight!

5995

Well you can't blame me!

You did right.

On the other hand, if it was to be put about that you were 95 then you'd be looking bloody good for your age ;)

Mmm - I'll have to think that one through! :))

:) I always add a year....have no idea why but can never remember whether I'm sixty two or three once I hit sixty two and that applies to every year...very weird...I think I count in the womb as well...HLOL...

My father in law always referred to being in his 60th year when he was 59!

funny isn't it...I've done that all my life...HLOL..big hugs..

I remember other girls in my class knew their mothers' ages and couldn't understand why I didn't know mine.

I'm forever 28 but I'd make a gorgeous 82 year old! I don't think you asked grown ups their age when I was a kid either, but then anyone over 18 always looked 'old' - when I was under 11.

Funny how your perception changes as you grow up, I see people like Elle Mcpherson and think 'my how young she looks' when 10 years ago I woulda thought 'old but pretty'!

I saw a badge in a card shop the other day that said 'I feel 100'. So do I, sometimes ;)
