I've just finished having my morning coffee and have been thinking about these:
What's your favourite?
*Sigh*
I LOOOVE angel cake, but have recently found out that I probably have Coeliac Disease, and now I can;t have any..... (cakes, biscuits, bread, most sweets and lots of other things - now I need to find the specially formulated equivalents)
Oh well - at least I can still have choclate!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 11:26
Phew - thank goodness you can still have chocolate then!
Hi Hemlok
I's not so bad ....really.
First stop ANY GOOD SUPERMARKET. They should sell scrummies under their own brand name (such as "Free From")
SECOND STOP
your GP will prescribe quite a lot of delicious stuff and you can get flour from him/her to wizz in your bread maker.
Third stop the good old www and enter Coeliacs in the search engine
Good luck
Mal.h
Thanks MtTal - I'lll scoot off and have a look later (Tesco here I come!!)

Too much belly for belly dancing - I know the feeling!
isadora101 [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 11:49
definitely too much belly
...although they say you can never have too much for the dance as some of the dancers I saw yesterday proved
isadora101 [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 11:52
actually, I saw them on Saturday
...don't know what day i'm on today
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 11:54
You need a sugar fix!!!
isadora101 [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 11:59
That's exactly what I thought
but will have to wait as i'm off to slimming club 'weigh in' later this afternoon so I don't eat much on Mondays!!...there got the day right now.
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 11:52
Is that what gave you the incentive?
chassy [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 12:04
I like coffee and walnut cake. I like angel cake too, and coconut cake, oh, and lemon cake and, what the heck, if it says 'cake', I like it! yum!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 12:10
Don't set me off! My Mum's lemon drizzle cake beats anything!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 15:22
Ooh yeeessss! I bet it does, mmmm mm!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 15:31
I want some NOW!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 17:35
Can you make it! Go on, I'd lurve some!
, here, *passes a half lemon from the fridge* it's all I've got but would it help? You need it zingy and enough so the sugar crusts *licks lips* mmmmmm...
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 17:44
You've really done it now! I'll have to go shopping tomorrow! (No late night shopping over here!)
no late night shopping? how on earth do you survive? The number of times I've nipped out for a last minute tub of Icecream, and squeezed into Waitrose at 7.55pm (evil glares from staff) or in the summer gone to get extra BBQ food.
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-16 @ 17:26
You just adapt - virtually no Sunday opening either!!!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 14:48
Sorry to have left you hankering after lemon drizzle cake! Hope you managed to find something else to satiate your appetite.
Did you get any in the end?
Hope you're well, sorry for delay in responding, have been leaving emails so I could catch up with reading blogs.
Hope the week went well, cheers for now la
X.
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 15:07
I'd completely put it out of my mind
Now look what you've gone and done!!!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 16:28
Oops, sorry! the coffee and walnut was lovely though, thanks *licks finger-tips* *snigger*
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 16:31
You're welcome - glad you enjoyed it - it's virtually zero calories!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 17:31
Well I'll be back for more of that on the next coffee morning then!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 17:45
This blog door is always open
chassy [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 18:31
Thank you very much, you're so kind. Perhaps I'll bring along a little something at some point. I've managed to get hold of some coffee beans ianrthorpe was writing about, at $50 per cup it's not cheap but hey, you've got to splash out sometimes, we're worth it!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 18:43
Agreed - next week I will make some lemon drizzle cake!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 19:34
Mmmm mmm mm, looking forward to it (freudianly wrote eat! ), see you then!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 19:37
Bye - now I've got a stack of coffee mugs and side plates to wash up - not to mention the cake forks! ![]()
I said don't mention the cake forks!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 19:49
Oh no, wish I could stop to help, but must dash! Sorry la, next time though! cake forks - no licky fingers then
, I'll be on my best behaviour Till next time then!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-18 @ 19:55
This post is titled Mr Kipling not KFC!
chassy [Member] 2008-04-19 @ 09:54
Mmm, finger lickin' good! I just lurve that coating! Add some corn salad and gravy, now we're talking good soak-up food! Cake never worked with lager like a good box of KFC did! Those were the good old days when my body didn't seem to care what it was put through. Coffee and cake is about it for me these days, and a couple of glasses of wine with a nice meal. Ho-hum, those fun days of garbage food, late nights and hangovers I could cope with! Shouldn't have let myself get out of practice!
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-19 @ 09:57
Good morning - you've just caught me - I was thinking about going off with my camera!
Time for a quick coffee?
chassy [Member] 2008-04-19 @ 10:38
Always! Bottomless coffee-pit me!
Is the weather good enough for getting out there?
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-19 @ 11:41
Yes and No! - the weather that is - but it's supposed to get worse tomorrow! ![]()
chassy [Member] 2008-04-19 @ 19:18
Did you get out then? Didn't improve here. Word is, someone's been doing a bit of jiggery-pokery with the weather and the Sun's been advised to stay away for it's own safety, haven't a clue what that's about *whistles as she wanders off hands behind back*
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-19 @ 19:30
Yes been out and taken a few piccies and got a bit of fresh air ![]()
What have you been up to?
boredrich [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 12:23
its gotta be the bakewell tarts eating all the tart and enjoying the cherry on top yummmmmm
notanotherblogger [Member] http://www.poemhunter.com/gordon-david/ 2008-04-14 @ 12:25
I'm a bit of a DUNKER, so it's either digestives or Hob-Nobs for me. No Rich Tea though, you just need to show a Rich Tea biccy the hot coffeee and it falls in to the mug. I like a nice fruit cake, maybe that says something about me LS, what do you think? Cheers.
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 15:32
Ginger nuts for dunking!
notanotherblogger [Member] http://www.poemhunter.com/gordon-david/ 2008-04-14 @ 16:05
Oh deary me, how could I miss out Ginger Nuts, me of all people too. Yes they are the best. So you like a nice Ginger Nut then LS? No don't answer that LS, it's the boy inside of me trying to get out...........
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 16:17
You obviously missed this:
http://mypoetry.blog.co.uk/2008/03/01/shall-i-put-the-kettle-on-then-3801834
notanotherblogger [Member] http://www.poemhunter.com/gordon-david/ 2008-04-15 @ 05:21
I'm a Ginger nut myself LS. There's a biscuit called "NICE" which is very good for dunking, but not too good on its own. A bit like ginger nuts, if you dunk ginger nuts, and you bite into one, you're never sure if it was the biscuit or your teeth that made that cracking noise???
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-15 @ 06:36
No nice biscuits don't stand up to the high temperature of my coffee and end up in bits at the bottom of my mug. Yuk!
glancerim [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 12:33
IT'S JUST A PIECE OF CAKE.....OH,OH.... BUT IT'S SWEET! .....LOL...
jenray pro http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk 2008-04-14 @ 13:34
Pain de raisin...HLOL...love them to pieces...but must be just right...big hugs...
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 15:35
I know what you mean - I like the ones sprinkled with that 'special' sugar!!
jenray pro http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk 2008-04-14 @ 15:44
I like only the ones glazed with sugar with the soft raisins inside and that sort of custard or butter mix in the whirls...ummmm....making me hungry...but I can't eat them anymore because making me so fat!!...hate, literally, iced pain de raisin that some shops do over here or great heavy things that would sink a battleship...LOL...big hugs....
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 15:53
That's the one!
Good job you don't live here then!
jenray pro http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk 2008-04-14 @ 19:42
They don't put icing sugar on pain de raisin in France, do they? That's where I had pain de raisin for the first time and it certainly didn't have icing on it...LOL...big hugs...
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 19:46
Oh no - that would be dreadful!
jenray pro http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk 2008-04-14 @ 20:00
It would indeed...
Big hugs...
Tentativeplotfinder [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 14:10

la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 15:33

NotBob [Member] http://notbob562.webs.com/blog.htm 2008-04-14 @ 15:57
I luurve cherry bakewells!
They can only be beaten by my mum's rock buns. Mmmmm.
MissyMouse [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 16:17
Cake? Where?
Gimmie cake, any kind of cake and gimmie it now...please
la_spice [Member] 2008-04-14 @ 16:21
We're having coffee and walnut cake this afternoon!
Oh! I forgot you're a new girl - do introduce yourself to everyone!
RunDontWalk pro http://menomamauk.blog.co.uk 2008-04-15 @ 00:58
I make all sorts of cake like things and eat only a fraction of them. Hubby eats them all and never gains an ounce! Where's the justice I ask????
