I confess ....

by la_spice @ 2008-04-29 - 15:50:42

....Today I've done something I didn't think that I would ever do!

I've been cheating. 88|

For years and years and years I have resisted temptation but today I finally gave in.

Well there were mitigating circumstances  it was either do without :**: or do something about it.:-/ Also I did have to try out something that my neighbour had recently recommended.

So there you are I confess. I admit it. I used bread mix.

Oh and I made some cinnamon biscuits by adapting a recipe and I half-covered them in some dark chocolate I found in the back of my store cupboard.

I'm turning into a right domestic goddess and all because I didn't want to do my weekly food shop! :))

I hate food shopping but I must go tomorrow because it's a Bank Holiday on Thursday and unlike the UK the majority of shops close.

Now for some bread and jam! I hope it tastes as good as it looks. If so I'll get another packet!

Oh, so do I...can't stand it but go because I feel I should get out of the house sometimes apart from walking round for the paper in the winter time/spring now as well with the rotten weather...I used to bake bread from scratch but gave up because we ate it too quickly...HLOL...enjoy your biscuits they look yummy...great big hugs...XX

I hope it's not too rummy - I do have a weakness for fresh bread!

That's a typo I presume...HLOL...no rummy in my breadie...great big hugs...XXX

I'm sure it does my mouths watering anyway.

I have never been able to make bread, but have bought a breadmaking machine and it comes out lovely.

What are you like using bread mix! I do have a packet of bread mix on standby "just incase" as you do, but just can't bring myself to use it...yet! ;)

Those biscuits look very inviting.....

I was visiting my neighbour last week and she had just taken a loaf out of the oven so when I spotted the mix I thought I'd buy it for a rainy day! Today it rained and I had run out of bread and biscuits so .... voila!

I hope they taste ok - I'll let you know

I still make all of our bread from scratch completely by hand. I love it, even the kneading. The greatest joy is the smell of it as it bakes in the oven, and the thrill is of wondering if it has stuck to the tin!

I still have never managed to get a pure wholemeal loaf to rise properly though. I can do one 3/4 wholemeal and 1/4 white perfectly, but not the whole lot. I wish I knew why.

Your cakes look good.

Cheers, Tom.

It's very yummy! I couldn't find my loaf tin so used a deep cake tin and it worked out better!

I will definitely do it again!

It's lovely - but I really shouldn't be eating it by myself. I suppose it'll make nice toast tomorrow!
