Is it a male thing?

by la_spice @ 2008-05-27 - 13:30:47

My four year old grandson has just started taking his superman comic to the loo when he goes for a 'sit down' visit. I just wondered if this was a male thing or do any females read on the loo?

I don't and I was brought up with four brothers and can never recall them or my dad using the smallest room as a reading room. Mind you we used to have little squares of newspapers strung together and hung behind the door of the outside toilet. Maybe they read those?

Toodle-loo

The newspaper in my place, has its home in the bathroom. I don't take a newspaper with me to the loo, it's already there. I think it is a male thing, possibly just to prove that we CAN Multi-Task!!!!!
(Read & Poo) Cheers...

My brothers, dad, maternal granddad and nephew have all done this. I believe both my godsons do.

I have never done so, as I can think of far more comfortable places to sit and read than the loo.

There have to be some places where we don't multi task,

And my current pet hate is mobile phone users announcing to the entire public arena "I'm just on the toilet". Yeuck.....

I'm male, but I have never been a "bathroom reader". I'm not there to read, I have other things to do.

In the men's room where I work, the Sports section of the local newspaper can often be found in the last stall at the back. I keep wondering how it gets there. We get a copy of the same paper in the lunchroom every day, but one can always find the Sports section there. So the one in the men's room must come from somewhere else. Magic elves, maybe.

I do that, as do most men I know. I don't know any women who do it, but to be honest I don't monitor their toilet habits too closely - that might get me into trouble!

Cheers, Tom.

Yep - I read in the loo.... came from a large family living in a small house: loo was usually the only place where you could have a few minutes alone....... Guess I never broke the habit!

Also, my grandmother used to tell me to try to make sure that I did not waste any opportunity to improve myself......

Another blog bog girl!

It is a totally male thing which I have discussed with my flatmate at length on a number of occasions. He deems it quality time, and something to take time-out doing, whereas we, the girls in the flat, just get on with it and leave the bathroom. I realyl wish he wouldn't do it, he spends ages in there just reading...how can you sit there, finished, and still read?! Ew!

I thought the same as you but we have some blogging blog girls it would seem!!!

Lokk girls, mens bums are hairier, and like Mr. Spock from Star Trek, we don't like Cling-ons, so we've got to make sure they're all gone, because we don't want our underwear to resemble Brands Hatch after a race meeting.

So more reason to put down the book and deal with the job in hand!!

I don't, and nor does my dad, but there's always a puzzle book in there for mum. I suppose sometimes she has to work it out with a pencil. :))

Guilty!

I have some fab reading material in there too....Schotts miscellany and the Rough Guide to England for starters! The loo is the only place I get left alone although the dog will wander in and want a tickle!
