As I walked through the village this morning I took a deep breath and knew immediately that the grapes are now being harvested. The air was heavy with the intoxicating smell of crushed grapes. When I reached the main road there was a temporary warning sign on the wayside alerting drivers of a danger on the road. Not falling rocks, leaves or mud on the road but the discarded grape skins which are being taken away by tractors and trailers.

One could get quite drunk just breathing in the air!
